Interprofessional Collaboration

High-quality healthcare delivery, especially in a hospital, increasingly relies on strong interprofessional collaboration.  The extent to which different healthcare professionals work well together can affect the quality of the healthcare that they provide. When problems occur between healthcare professionals from different disciplines—like poor communication, cooperation or collaboration—the one who is likely to suffer the most is the patient.  Interprofessional collaboration focuses on practice-based interventions, providing frontline clinicians with strategies for improving work interactions and processes between two or more healthcare disciplines and/or across units or departments.
